Apprentice Groundworker

Are you ready to build your future in the construction industry?

As an Apprentice Groundworker, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking Groundworks and Civil Engineering company working on exciting projects across East Anglia. You’ll gain real on-site experience while earning a nationally recognised qualification – and getting paid to learn.

Location: Sites across East Anglia
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00/5:00pm
Salary: £15,704 – £25,396 (age-dependent)
Start Date: June 2025

The Apprenticeship Pathway

You’ll begin with a 6-month paid training period, working closely with experienced site teams to develop core skills, build confidence, and show your commitment.

Those who successfully complete this initial stage will be enrolled onto a structured apprenticeship programme, leading to a nationally recognised qualification as a Level 2 Construction Groundworker – all while continuing to gain practical, hands-on experience every day.

This opportunity is ideal for anyone looking to retrain in a skilled, essential trade with long-term career potential in the construction industry. (Minimum age 17) 

What you'll be doing:

Working under the guidance of experienced construction professionals, you’ll support the Production Team and get stuck into a wide range of tasks on live construction sites, such as:

  • Preparing sites for construction

  • Installing drainage systems and service ducts

  • Concreting, kerbing and laying footpaths

  • Constructing roads and block paving

  • General labouring and site support

  • Learning and following essential health & safety procedures

You’ll also develop core skills in areas like:

  • Levelling and setting out

  • Basic project management

  • Building Information Modelling (BIM)

  • Design principles

  • Civil engineering theory

What we're looking for:

We’re not expecting you to know it all from day one – we just want to see your enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to learn.

Essential:

  • GCSE Maths & English (Grade 3-9 / D-A)

  • Interest in construction and working outdoors

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Desirable:

  • CSCS Card

  • Full UK Driving Licence
